The pursuit of gender equality and increased equity is a complex and multifaceted goal that has been widely recognized as a core component of sustainable development.

This book addresses the necessity to include more Indian women in science, critically examining many known and persistent challenges, as well as successes, within academia, research and industry in India.

This issue is critical now more than ever because improving the engagement of women in science and research fields holds out the hope of improving the quality, quantity and diversity of creative solutions for major issues of international and national concern, such as global pandemics, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation and all forms of pollution, and natural resource calamities.
